MOM'S APPLE COBBLER | |
1 stick butter 2 c. sugar 2 c. water 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour 1/2 c. shortening 1/3 c. milk 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 c. apples, finely chopped or shredded Melt butter in 9 x 13 inch pan. In a saucepan, heat sugar and water until sugar is dissolved. In a mixing bowl, cut shortening into flour then add milk; mix, then roll into a rectangle on floured surface. Spread apples onto dough then sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll up jelly-roll fashion. Seal the edges and slice into 1 inch slices. Put the slices into pan with melted butter. Pour hot syrup around the spirals. This will look like too much liquid but it will be absorbed. Bake 55 to 60 minutes in a 350 degree oven. |
