OLD-FASHIONED BREAD PUDDING | |
8 to 10 slices day old bread, cubed 3 whole eggs 2 cups half & half 1 cup heavy whipping cream 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. vanilla 4 tbsp. (1/2 stick) butter Preheat oven to 350°F. Brush a glass casserole dish with melted butter. Sprinkle the sides and bottom of the dish lightly with sugar. Cube bread in large mixing bowl and set aside. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, eggs, half & half, heavy whipping cream and vanilla. Mix with hand mixer on lowest speed until mixture is combined. Pour mixture over bread mixing with hands thoroughly combining bread with the liquid mixture. Pour mixture into prepared baking pan and dot with 4 tablespoons of butter cut into thin slices.
