HAMBURGER CHOWDER 
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans canned tomatoes
1 can water
1/2 c. barley
2 lg. potatoes, peeled, cut in chunks
2 carrots, peeled & sliced
1 onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, diced
1/2 lb. string beans (fresh)
Salt & pepper

Brown hamburger and break into chunks. Run tomatoes briefly through blender and add with water and barley to hamburger. Simmer 5 minutes. Add all vegetables, salt and pepper. Add water, if necessary. To cover vegetables. Simmer, covered, for 1 hour. Add Tabasco sauce or hot pepper sauce to taste. Yum!
