FRENCH APPLE PIE 
3/4 to 1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
6 to 7 c. apples, sliced & pared
1 1/2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. flour

Mix sugar and cinnamon, and mix lightly through apples. Heap up in pastry lined pie pan. Dot with butter.

Mix melted butter, brown sugar and flour until crumbly. Sprinkle over apple mixture.

Bake at 400 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes for a 9-inch pie. Cover edges with foil until last 10 minutes of baking.
