GUMDROP COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. slightly chopped pecans
2 c. sm. gum drops cut in thirds (or substitute 2 c. soft candied cherries for the gum drops)

Cream butter; add powdered sugar creaming well. Blend in egg and vanilla. Add flour; mix well. Stir in pecans and gum drops. Chill dough about 1 hour. Place by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Pat down a little. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes until delicately browned on the edges.
