BUTTER-SCOTCH PIE | |
2 c. milk, scalded 2 eggs, well beaten Few grains salt 3 tbsp. cornstarch 1 c. brown sugar 3/4 tsp. vanilla Combine sugar, salt, and cornstarch. Add eggs. Mix thoroughly. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly. Cook over hot water until thick and smooth. Cool. Add flavoring. Pour into baked pastry shell. Serve with whipped cream. If desired, 1 tablespoon caramel syrup make by caramelizing 2 tablespoons sugar and dissolved in 1 tablespoon water may be added to give intensity of flavor. |
