JEWISH APPLE CAKE | |
3 c. unsifted flour 3 tsp. baking powder 4 eggs 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 c. sugar 1 c. oil 1/3 c. orange or pineapple juice 3 to 5 peeled and sliced apples 1/2 c. sugar, mixed with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Beat all ingredients together until smooth. Pour 1/2 batter in a large, ungreased tube pan or a sheet pan. Slice 3 to 5 apples (peeled) and arrange half of them on the batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture (1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon), then add rest of batter, apples, and cinnamon mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours until done for tube cake or 350 degrees for 40 minutes for sheet cake. |
