2 c. water
1 c. salt
2 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. alum
3 1/2 to 4 c. flour
Food coloring of your choice

Mix water, salt, shortening, alum and enough flour to make a stiff dough. Add food coloring to desired shade. Keep in closed container.
