FRENCH ONION SOUP 
1/4 c. butter
4 c. thinly sliced onions
4 cans condensed beef bouillon soup, undiluted
1 tsp. salt
2 or 3 peppercorns or pepper
Tiny bit of garlic powder
Parmesan cheese
Slices of French bread
Swiss cheese, thick slices
Monterey Jack cheese, thick slices

Saute onions until golden brown, about 8 minutes. Combine onions, soup, salt, peppercorns and garlic powder. Simmer 30 minutes.

Toast French bread and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Put soup in bowls. Add bread. Cover with Monterey Jack and Swiss cheese slices. Put in oven or broiler until cheese melts.
