CARAWAY SEED SODA BREAD | |
3 c. flour 1/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 3/4 stick butter 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 c. raisins 1/4 c. caraway seeds Blend dry ingredients in large bowl. Cut in small pieces of butter until mix is crumbly. Add buttermilk, stirring until moistened. Add raisins and seeds. Place mixture in a well greased 10 inch cast iron skillet and bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Cool and serve. Makes 1 loaf. |
