ORANGE SLICE COOKIES
For about 30 cookie bars you will need:

4 eggs
3/4 lb. light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
12 orange slice candies, cut in small pieces
Powdered sugar

If you have a large capacity 1.4 cubic foot microwave oven, grease a glass or other microsafe 13 x 9 inch baking dish.

Beat eggs. Add brown sugar and vanilla. Beat until light.

Combine flour and salt. Add to egg mixture. Beat until smooth.

Add nuts and orange slices. Spread mixture in greased pan.

Because this is such a large rectangular dish, corners and sides have a tendency to be over-cooked before the center is done. To prevent this, cut strips of aluminum foil, about 2 inches wide to shield the corners and sides of the dish. Be sure foil is tucked tightly around dish and down not touch the sides of oven.

Microwave at HIGH power for about 6 minutes.

Remove foil from edges.

Bake another 4 minutes or until 1 pick inserted in the center is almost clean.

Remove to a heat-proof surface until cool.

Cut and roll in powdered sugar.

If you have a small oven, follow these directions, except bake it in TWO 8-inch square baking dishes. Decrease cooking time. Use aluminum foil to shield corners only. Microwave at HIGH power for 3 minutes. Remove foil and microwave another 3 to 4 minutes.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
