FAMOUS HAWAIIAN FRENCH TOAST 
4 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. evaporated milk, diluted
1 tbsp. liquid shortening

Slice Hawaiian bread and set aside. Allow slices to dry. Blend all ingredients well. Before dipping each slice, stir to keep spices blended. DO NOT SOAK! Place dipped bread into heated skillet, turn until golden brown. To Serve: Sprinkle with powdered sugar and a dash of cinnamon. Option: Add grated orange rind before blending ingredients.
