TOASTED PECAN SQUARES 
2 c. pecans, coarsely chopped
1/2 c. butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (very soft)
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar

In an 8 inch square glass baking pan, place pecans and butter. Microwave on high for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. (In conventional oven, bake 15 minutes). In small bowl of electric mixer, place softened cream cheese and beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Place in pan with pecan mixture and stir until cream cheese melts. Add vanilla and powdered sugar; mix well. Chill in refrigerator for 1 1/2 hours or in freezer for 45 minutes. Cut into squares.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
