BAKED BEANS | |
2 lb. dry great northern beans Meaty ham bone 1 tsp. salt 2 sm. onions, whole 1 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. dry mustard 1/3 c. dark molasses 1 c. ketchup Soak beans overnight in a roaster filled with water; drain. Cover with fresh water. Add salt and simmer 1 hour or until tender. Add remaining ingredients and bake, covered, in a 300 degree oven for 5 hours. Stir 2-3 times during cooking, adding water if necessary, so beans stay covered. Remove meat from the bone and put back into beans. |
