VERY GOOD IRISH BREAD | |
2 sticks melted butter 1 pkg. (15 oz.) white raisins, plumped 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt 4 c. milk (more or less) 8 tsp. baking powder 3 eggs 8 c. flour 4 tbsp. caraway seeds Measure and mix flour, sugar, eggs, salt, milk, melted butter, baking powder. Add raisins and then caraway seeds. Pour into loaf pans, bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Cool. Top with glaze if desired. Plumped - soak in hot water and drain well. GLAZE: 1 c. butter, melted 4 c. confectioners' sugar 3 tsp. vanilla 4 to 8 tbsp. hot water Add hot water gradually to get right consistency. |
