SCALLOPED TOMATOES CASSEROLE 
1 lg. can tomatoes or equivalent fresh tomato & juice
1 sm. onion, chopped
1/4 c. butter
1 3/4 c. dry bread crumbs
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. pepper

Saute onion in butter. Add bread cubes and sugar. Cook slowly. Stir in tomatoes and seasoning. Bake in shallow greased pan 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
