GOLD AND SILVER CAKE 
5 egg yolks
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/3 c. cake flour
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat yolks, milk and vanilla. Add sugar and beat until stiff. Sift flour, soda, and cream of tartar. Beat into yolk mixture.

5 egg whites
3/4 c. sugar
1 sm. tsp. cream of tartar
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine egg whites, cream of tartar and salt. Beat until stiff. Add vanilla. Fold in sugar and then flour. Alternate white mixture and yellow mixture in an ungreased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until brown. Tip pan upside down to cool.

FILLING:

2 c. sweet cream
2 eggs, beaten
6 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine ingredients. Cook until it thickens. Cool before frosting cake.
