APPLE BREAD 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tbsp. sour milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. chopped raw apples
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 c. candied orange slices, cut up

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and sour milk. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Add apples, nuts and orange slices (mix a little of the flour with orange slices so they don't stick together.) Mix until well blended. Put in loaf pan. Sprinkle on top: 2 tablespoons sugar mixed with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes. Makes 1 loaf.
