2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. light syrup
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. or more raw peanuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, water and syrup in large heavy saucepan. Cook over moderate heat until small amount forms a small ball when tested in cold water. Add salt, butter and peanuts and continue cooking, stirring often until candy becomes a golden brown. Add vanilla and soda, stir up and pour immediately on large greased cookie sheet. Cool and break into pieces. Caution! This is very hot. Be careful!
