STAINED GLASS CANDY
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. corn syrup
2/3 c. water
Few drops coloring
Few drops flavoring

Mix sugar, syrup, and water thoroughly. Cook over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Then increase the heat and continue cooking, without stirring, until a small quantity dropped in very cold water separates into threads which are hard and brittle. This will be 310 degrees on a candy thermometer. The heat may need to be reduced toward end of cooking time to prevent scorching. Remove from heat; add flavoring and coloring, stirring enough to mix. Cool. Break into bite-size pieces. Coat with powdered sugar.
