FAMILY FUN VALENTINE COOKIES | |
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar 1 c. butter 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. almond extract Mix together and add: 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cream of tartar Mix thoroughly; refrigerate 2 to 3 hours. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out half of dough at a time. Cut with heart or other cutter. The thinner the dough, the crisper and more delicate the cookie. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake until cookies fall from being puffed, a light golden brown. Cool. FROSTING: (For double recipe of cookies) : 1 box confectioners' sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Few drops peppermint extract Few drops red food color Add milk little by little until of a spreading consistency For easier application on elaborate cookies like multicolor Santas, thin the frosting a little more and paint on with paint brushes. Should never be runny. |
