RED VELVET POUND CAKE 
3 1/4 c. all purpose flour
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 sticks butter
6 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 (1 oz.) bottles of red food coloring
1 tbsp. cocoa

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour tube pan. Cream sugar, butter and shortening together until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each egg. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture and mix well.

Combine milk, food coloring, lemon and vanilla flavoring and cocoa together and add to batter. Beat at high speed until mixed well. Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan. Fill to 2/3 full. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. This is good with cream cheese frosting.
