DUTCH BOTERKOEK 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. granulated sugar
Dash of salt
Tbsp. milk

Cut butter up in flour to consistency of corn meal; add sugar and salt. Mix together with your hands and press into bottom of large pie plate or spring-form pan. Brush dough with milk. Decorate by making diagonal lines with tines of a fork. Bake at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Note: For variety, you may add grated peel of a lemon or a teaspoon vanilla extract.
