CHICKEN A LA KING 
6 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 c. milk
1 c. water
1 tsp. instant chicken bouillon granules
2 c. cooked chicken or turkey, cubed
1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1/4 c. pimento (optional)

For sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper. Add milk, water, and bouillon granules all at once. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes more. Stir in chicken, mushrooms, and pimento. Heat through. Serve spooned over toast, English muffins, or baked patty shells. Makes 4 servings.
