TOMATO PRESERVES 
5 lbs. ripe tomatoes
4 lbs. sugar
2 lemons, sliced thin

Scald and peel tomatoes. Add sugar and let stand overnight. Drain off juice and boil it rapidly until it is a thread when dropped from a spoon. Add the tomatoes and lemons and boil until they are thick and clear. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
