BLACK WALNUT POUND CAKE 
2/3 c. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. milk
2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 eggs
1 c. finely chopped black walnuts
Confectioner's sugar

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Grease 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Beat butter at medium speed of electric mixer in large bowl until creamy. Add sugar slowly. Beat in vanilla. Add milk and beat until well blended. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture at low speed. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Scrape sides of bowl as needed.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, at low speed. Scrape bowl as needed. Add chopped nuts, mixing well. Transfer to 9 inch loaf pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on cooking rack 10 minutes before removing from pan. Cool completely. Dust with confectioners sugar. Makes one 9 inch loaf.
