FRENCH BREAD 
1 pkg. yeast, powdered
2 c. lukewarm water
4 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt

Dissolve yeast into 1 cup lukewarm water. While yeast softens, stir flour, sugar and salt together in large bowl. Stir in dissolved yeast. Add just enough of 2nd cup of water to have a soft, sticky dough. Cover. Let rise until double, 3 hours. Punch down and beat with hand. Divide into 2 pieces. Place each in greased loaf pan or 6" round casserole. Cover. Let rise to top of dish, 1 1/2 hours. Brush top with melted butter. Bake at 400 degrees for 55 minutes.
