BLONDE BROWNIES 
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/3 c. shortening or oil
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 pkg. chocolate bits

Melt shortening in saucepan; remove from heat and add sugar. Mix well. Add egg and vanilla, add dry ingredients (small amount at a time). Pour into greased 8x8 inch pan and bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.
