CANDIED SWEET POTATOES 
6 med. size sweet potatoes or yams
1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Vanilla or lemon flavoring

Cook potatoes until tender when pierced with a fork. Heat in the skillet over low heat. All ingredients are mixed and cooked over low heat until it bubbles. Except flavoring. Add potatoes to sauce or syrup. Cook over medium heat turning potatoes several times. Add flavoring. Cook about 20 minutes until well glazed and thoroughly heated.
