OLD FASHIONED BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. Crisco
1 c. water or 1 c. milk or 1/2 c. of each

Combine flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar. Add Crisco, mix together with a fork until well combined and a crumbly consistency is present. Then SLOWLY add water or milk. Mix until dough doesn't stick. Roll out on flat surface and cut to desired thickness up to 2 inches. Let stand for 2 hours to rise or pop in oven.
