OATMEAL DATE CRISPIES 
1 c. shortening (oleo or part butter)
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. quick oats
1 c. chopped dates
1/2-1 c. nuts

Cream shortening and sugars; beat in eggs and vanilla.

Sift flour, salt and soda together. Stir into creamed mixtures. Stir in oats, dates and nuts. Form into small balls (about 1 inch diameter). Place about 1 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
