LAYERED JELLO SQUARES | |
4 sm. pkgs. different color Jello (I use sugar free) 7 env. unflavored gelatin 1 can sweetened condensed milk Boiling water Combine 1 package Jello, 1 envelope gelatin and 1 cup boiling water in bowl stirring until dissolved. Pour Jello mixture into bottom of 9x13 baking dish. Let firm in refrigerator 30 minutes. While first layer is firming, combine sweetened condensed milk, 2 cups boiling water and 3 gelatin packages in bowl. Allow mixture to cool very slightly. When first layer is firm, remove 2/3 cup milk mixture and slowly pour over spoon back onto Jello layer. Remember each layer is hot when pouring and can melt the firm layer underneath it if you're not careful. Refrigerate for approximately 20 minutes or until firm. Repeat this process until you have 7 layers, starting with Jello and ending with Jello with milk layers in-between. Allow each layer to firm up completely before continuing. It may not take a full 20 minutes for each layer to firm up after the first two layers. If the milk mixture becomes too thick between layers add small amounts of hot water to liquify the mixture. Cut into squares or use cookie cutters. The squares can be made using all different colors of Jello. Make them with red and green Jello at Christmas. At Valentines use only red Jello and use heart shaped cookie cutters. use red, and blue Jello for the Fourth of July. |
