CRUSTY FRENCH BREAD | |
2 c. warm water 1 pkg. yeast 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt 5 3/4 c. flour 1 egg white (for the top) Add yeast to warm water and add rest of ingredients. Place in slightly greased bowl in a warm place. Let rise 1 hour. Punch down and form into 2 equal parts. Let rest 5 minutes. Shape into 2 long loaves and slice top diagonally. Let rise 30 minutes to 1 hour or until double. Bake in 400 degree oven for 35 minutes. Take out, brush with unbeaten egg white and return to oven for 2 minutes. |
