When assembling don't pour, SPOON the strawberry pineapple and jello mix on top. Mom made this in the 1960's and now I'm asked to make by my great-nephews & -nieces!

 Cheryle Marsh (Michigan) says:
I think it's kind of sweet so I use lemon juice for 1/4 the water in the jello & I add grated lemon zest to the cream cheese section. And when raspberries are on sale I use them instead of strawberries.

 Phil (Idaho) says:
Excellent, but how to add jello to desert without the cream cheese/cool whip mix being washed up into the Jello? I poured the cooled jello onto some plastic wrap that I put on top of the mixture, but it still indented it slightly. Tried freezing mixture, did not harden much. Any good ideas?

My family has been making this recipe for many years. Not only is it good for dessert but try serving it with spicy foods like chicken enchilada's, etc. as a side dish. Very refreshing and delish. Try it!

Just made this tonight. I cut way back on the sugar though. Seemed like an awful lot to me. And it tastes just as good! And I used sugar free jello. But I did not use light coolwhip.

We keep pretzels in separate container and add on top as we eat it. They are always crisp. Keep any extra in container.

I used Pork Rinds in place of the pretzels and Splenda in place of sugar and sugar free Jello and the lightest coolwhip and plain frozen strawberries with no sugar. It turned out very well. It is low carb and low sugar
