OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. rolled oats

Stir boiling water into oats and let stand 20 minutes before making batter.

Batter:

1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream butter and sugars; add rolled oat mixture. Add eggs, vanilla, flour, soda, salt and cinnamon.

Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes. Immediately spread with topping and place under broiler until bubbly.

Topping:

1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. butter, melted
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix brown sugar, vanilla, butter, coconut, milk and nuts.
