8 DAY PICKLES 
8 c. sugar
5 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. turmeric
1 tbsp. celery seed
1 tsp. mustard seed
2 tbsp. pickling spice
1 tbsp. dill seed
2 c. vinegar
2 c. water

Mix together the above ingredients and bring to a boil. Pour over medium size pickles (any amount). Cover pickles with boiling water, changing every day for 4 days. On third day add 2 tablespoons alum water to cover pickles. On the 5th day slice pickles 1/2-inch thick.

Pour boiling syrup over pickles for 4 days. On 5th day bring syrup to boiling. Add pickles and jar and seal. Cold pack long enough to seal.
