MOM'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE | |
1 sm. onion, chopped 1/2 green pepper, chopped 1 clove garlic, chopped 2 tbsp. olive oil 3/4 lb. ground beef 1 sm. can tomato paste 2 sm. cans tomato sauce 1 tsp. Mexine chili powder 1 tbsp. oregano 2 whole bay leaves Salt and pepper to taste Brown onion, green pepper and garlic in olive oil until tender. Transfer from frying pan to deep pot. Brown ground beef in frying pan until crumbled. Drain off excess liquid and transfer to deep pot. Add tomato paste and tomato sauce. Fill one of the tomato sauce cans with plain water four times and add it to the sauce. Add chili powder, oregano, bay leaves, salt and pepper to taste. Cook hot for first 15 minutes then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes. Serve over steaming hot spaghetti. |
