Mix 3 teaspoons cornstarch with 1/2 cup sugar and add gradually 1 cup boiling water, stirring constantly. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from fire and add 2 tablespoons butter, 5 teaspoons lemon juice, a few gratings of nutmeg and a pinch of salt.
