OATMEAL BUNS 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
2 c. oatmeal
1 tbsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening
2 pkgs. yeast
1 3/4 c. warm water
1/2 to 1 c. brown sugar (less sugar for sandwiches)
1/3 c. molasses
2 eggs
6 to 7 c. flour

Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water over oatmeal, salt, and shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in molasses, sugar and flour. Mix in eggs. Add oatmeal mixture. Knead. Let raise until double. Punch down raise 1/2 hour. Form buns. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Brush hot buns with butter. Makes 4 dozen.
