CRUNCHY APPLE MUFFINS 
1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 c. powdered milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. water
1 egg
1/3 c. nuts, chopped
2 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. finely cut, peeled apple
1/4 c. cooking oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix brown sugar, nuts and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.

Sift into 2-quart bowl the flour, powdered milk, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Mix in apples. Stir in water, oil, and egg mixture. Pour into 12 well-greased muffin cups. Sprinkle with brown sugar-nut mixture over top. Bake 20 minutes or until brown. Serve warm.
