YELLOW CAKE | |
3 3/4 qts. flour 2 1/2 qts. sugar 1 c. non-fat dry milk 1/2 c. baking powder 1 1/2 tbsp. salt Mix the dry ingredients above together in a large mixing bowl. Combine: 16 lg. eggs 2 tbsp. vanilla 1 1/2 qts. water Add shortening, eggs, vanilla, and half of the water to the dry ingredients. Beat for 30 seconds on low speed of mixer. Beat 5 minutes on medium speed. Add remaining water; blend 30 seconds on low speed. Beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Pour batter into 2 greased sheet pans (about 18 x 26 inches), about 1 gallon per pan. Bake in 350°F oven for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. While cake is hot, brush with orange glaze. Serve topped with fruit, lemon sauce, chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream or whipped topping. Serves 50. |
