HARVEY HOUSE SLAW 
1 lg. head shredded cabbage
2 chopped onions
1 1/2 c. sugar or less
1 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. sugar
1 c. vinegar
3/4 c. (or less) vegetable oil
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. salt

Place layer of cabbage then layer of onions to top of dish. Pour the 1 1/2 cup sugar on top. Bring to a boil the rest of sugar, vinegar, oil, mustard, celery seed and salt. Pour this mixture over cabbage immediately. Store in refrigerator at least 4 hours. Cover to hold steam - do not stir. When ready to use, stir well. Keeps for weeks in refrigerator.
