CHOCOLATE LOAF CAKE 
2 sqs. melted chocolate
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
2 beaten eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. brown sugar, creamed with shortening and chocolate
1/2 c. sour milk, add 2 beaten eggs and 1/2 tsp. salt
1 level tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. boiling water, add last

Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes in 13 x 9 inch loaf pan.

If you don't have sour milk, add 1 tablespoon vinegar to milk for sour milk.

BOILED FROSTING:

1 c. granulated sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/4 c. milk
Butter (size of egg)
Vanilla, add after cooking

Boil until frothy; try drops in cup of cold water. When drops form soft balls in water, remove from heat. Place pan in pan of cold water. Add vanilla and beat. When it begins to stiffen, quickly spread on cake. If necessary, add few drops of milk to smooth.
