BEEF-VEGETABLE SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. chopped onion
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. sage
1 med. can stewed tomatoes
1 c. chopped celery
1 c. chopped carrots
1 c. chopped cabbage
1 can beef broth or 3 bouillon cubes + 1 c. water

Brown meat with onion and garlic. Add remaining ingredients, plus 4 cups water. Simmer 20 minutes. Add 1/3 cup raw rice or barley or noodles or any pasta. Cook until done. Makes 2 1/2 quarts. Freezes well.
