CHOCOLATE UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE 
1 c. flour (all-purpose)
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. liquid shortening
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

SAUCE:

1 c. packed brown sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa

1 3/4 c. hot water

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cocoa. Add to dry ingredients milk and liquid shortening. Spread into 9x11 inch baking dish (ungreased).

Mix dry sauce ingredients (brown sugar and cocoa) in a small mixing bowl. Blend well. Spread over cake batter, spreading evenly.

Gently and evenly pour the hot water on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
