HOT MEAT AND CHEESE SANDWICH LOAF | |
1 (16 oz.) pkg. hot roll mix 4 oz. thinly sliced, cooked ham, cut into strips 4 oz. thinly sliced pepperoni, cut into strips 1 c. ricotta cheese or dry-curd cottage cheese 4 oz. shredded Mozzarella or Provolone cheese 4 oz. shredded Fontina cheese 1/3 c. thinly sliced green onion 1/2 tsp. pepper Milk Sesame seed (optional) Prepare hot roll mix through kneading step according to basic recipe on package directions. Cover and let rest 5 minutes. For filling, in large mixing bowl, stir together ham, pepperoni, ricotta, Mozzarella, or Provalone cheese, Fontina cheese, green onion and pepper. Set aside. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 9x12 inch rectangle. Spread filling lengthwise down center of the rectangle in a 4-inch wide strip. Fold long sides of dough over filling. Moisten edges with water. Pinch to seal. Place loaf, seam side down, on greased large baking sheet. With a very sharp knife, cut 1 1/2 inch slits in top for steam to escape. Cover and let rise for 10 minutes. Lightly brush loaf with milk. If desired, sprinkle with sesame seed. Bake in 375 degree oven about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes. Use serrated knife to slice into serving-size pieces. |
