1 c. shortening
1 lb. box light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tbsp. cinnamon
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sweet potatoes (cooked and mashed)
2 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together shortening and sugar, add eggs and mix well. Add sweet potatoes. Sift cinnamon and baking powder with flour and add to mix. Add milk and vanilla and mix well with mixer.

Grease and flour 9 x 13 inch cake pan or 2 round cake pans for a layer cake. Bake cake on 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
