2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. water
2 c. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves

Boil above 15 minutes. Cool. Then add to thickened mixture. 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 1/2 c. flour

Mix well and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
