THE FRESH APPLE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour (plain or all purpose)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 c. nuts (any kind) (walnuts or pecans)
1 1/2 c. salad oil
3 c. apples, cut into sm. pieces
3 eggs

Cream together sugar and eggs; add eggs, 1 at a time. Sift together flour, soda and salt; add alternately with oil, beginning and ending with flour, then add vanilla. Stir in nuts and apples. Pour in well greased pan and bake at 350 degrees. Ice with Apple Cake Icing. Serves 12.

APPLE CAKE ICING:

1 c. brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/4 c. evaporated milk

Cook approximately 5 minutes or to a glaze.
