CANDY CANE COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening (oil)
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt

Mix together butter, shortening, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla. To this add flour and salt. Divide dough in half. Add red food coloring to one part. Take a small piece of the red and a small piece of the white batter, roll into roll and twist them together and then shape into a candy cane. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 9 minutes or until lightly brown.
